GU10 halogen bulb on a trailing-edge dimmer glows when switched off
A glow when switched off comes from one of three causes: a small current the dimmer lets through when off (common with electronic dimmers), voltage induced from nearby cables, or a fault such as the switch cutting the neutral instead of the live. A filament needs far more current than an LED to glow, so with filament bulbs a fault is the likelier cause — have it checked. There's no standard minimum load: use the minimum and maximum printed on your dimmer — with 35 W GU10 bulbs a 10 W minimum needs 1, a 40 W minimum 2. The bulb must be marked dimmable.
